Just a thought…you’re currently sending the request on every key stroke, which creates a ton of connections (as you noted) and would also be pretty nasty on a low-bandwidth connection. Have you considered using a timer? You could check every X seconds to see if the query’s changed, and update if necessary then. This would reduce the queries considerably. Since most people can type a 6-character word in ~5 seconds, if the timer is set to, say, 3 seconds, you’d reduce the 6 queries down to 2 queries. Just a thought — looks great!

I’m definitely getting addicted to your dictonary. One thing that would boost its usefulness for me would be if you decrease the min-width of the input field/autocomplete box. Then I could it could be used as a sidebar for opera(or firefox).
